Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We provide services through the following Children’s Waivers: Children with Life Limiting Illnesses (CLLI), Children’s Extensive Support (CES), Children’s Habilitation Residential Program (CHRP); and Adult Waivers: Supported Living Services (SLS).

We also serve general Medicaid and CHP+ (all regional entities: Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Colorado Access, Colorado Community Health Alliance, and Beacon Health Options).

We accept Colorado Doctor’s Plan and private pay. Anthem Blue Cross is currently not allowing new clinicians to be added to its mental health network, so we are unable to accept new Anthem Blue Cross members at this time. We strongly encourage Anthem Blue Cross members to consult the Colorado Department of Insurance and advocate for Anthem’s allowing new clinicians onto their network.

Do you provide parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT)?

Yes, we offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) at The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver.

Do you provide EMDR therapy? What is EMDR therapy?

Yes, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy at The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver.

EMDR is a non-invasive, evidence-based method of psychotherapy that helps people recover from the effects of psychological trauma through adaptive information processing.

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.

EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.

Do you provide all kinds of family therapy?

We do not provide any family therapy services when there is not an established relationship among the participants (including court ordered therapy).

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy is dependent on the individual goals and frequency of sessions. The goal of The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver is to have as few sessions as possible for sustainable, long-term change. The center focuses on building healthy coping mechanisms, changing dysfunctional family patterns and building a healthy support system to have the tools to be successful without therapy.

What does the intake session look like?

The goal of the intake session is for the therapist to get to know each client, and to learn what their therapeutic goals are. During the intake session, the therapist recommends frequency and duration of therapy that would be beneficial for the family/individual and necessary paperwork is completed.  It is required that clients complete the necessary intake paperwork prior to the first session, so that time can be spent addressing therapeutic needs.

What are your hours?

The hours of The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver vary depending on client needs. Evening hours will be available to accommodate families that work during traditional day-time hours.

What is the youngest age you work with?

Child and Family Therapy can begin at age three at The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver.  Music Therapy and Massage Therapy can begin at infancy.
